Sivananda yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram, Thiruvananthpuram, Kerala

The foothills of Kerala’s Western Ghats provide the majestic silhouette to the Sivanada Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram. The tranquility of the tropical terrain in union with the blessings of nature serves as the perfect place to cut stress. The idyllic destination with its beautiful neighborhood attracts people in great numbers. The Ashram is enveloped by the enthralling Neyyar Dam, beautiful green coconut tree groves and varied hues of flower-filled views. The setting provides a congenial atmosphere for yoga and meditation.

The Dhanwantari Ashram offers training programs in Yoga and Ayurveda. The exclusive programs cover classical yoga techniques that are taught in a natural and healthy ambience. The trainers help the guests to gain spiritual awareness about the self and the world we are living in.

The Ashram also offers special courses in Ayurveda and Ayurvedic Massage. A special two week course, ‘Ayurveda-The Science of Life’ is conducted at the Ashram that provides the students an insight about the dogmas of Ayurveda. The trainers impart knowledge about the relevance of this ancient science in today’s world. The course covers the main principle of Tridosha (one's natural state of being and imbalances) and guides you with simple therapeutic medicinal and massage treatments. Some useful tips on the basis of one's age, seasons, climate etc. will be given to the students. Students will also participate in the daily ashram activities including meditation, chanting, selfless service, asana and pranayama.

The Ashram also features a boutique that is a complete house of books, yoga mats, stationery, postcards, CDs, clothing and snacks. A library in its premises is a storehouse of books on yoga and related topics. The Ashram also provides facilities such as safe keeping, I- net, fax, laundry etc. the Health Hut is the biggest attraction owing to its serene environment for indulging in healthy food like fruits and juices.

Courses at the Dhanwantari Ashram start on the 1st and 16th of each month. Each course has a minimum duration of two weeks. The Ashram provides accommodation to visitors at Rs600 for a double room and Rs450 in dormitories. The rates are inclusive of food as well.
